Get ready for an exciting day as you'll be getting up close to the magnificent Great Pyramid of Giza on your Giza Pyramids tour. Start your day with a tasty buffet breakfast at your hotel before meeting up with your accredited Egyptologist guide to begin your Cairo excursion.
Today, you'll visit the Old Kingdom Saqqara Necropolis and the Giza Plateau, as well as the site of the first capital of Egypt, which dates back roughly 5,000 years.
Your tour will start at the Giza Pyramids, where you'll see the enormous structures built by the great pharaohs of Egypt during the 4th dynasty, including the pyramids of Cheops, Chephren, and Mycerinus. Your guide will explain the significance of the pyramids and how they were constructed to serve as burial tombs for the semi-god kings, with the main entrance to the north.
Afterward, you'll have the option to enjoy camel riding at the Giza Pyramids (optional), and your Bedouin guide will snap some impressive photos for you. You'll also see the Great Sphinx, a 73-meter-tall man-headed lion figure, and enter the Valley Temple, which is another interesting part of the funerary complex of King Chephren.
Next, your driver will take you to the Saqqara Necropolis, which is about 45 minutes from Cairo. Here, you'll see the oldest stone pyramid in Egypt, the Step Pyramid, which was built by the famous architect Imhotep for his king, Djoser of the 3rd dynasty. You'll have the option to enter the Pyramid of Teti, who ruled the country during the 6th dynasty, and the tomb of his son-in-law, Kagemni, which is one of the most impressive tombs of the nobles for its rich amount of offerings and hunting scenes inscribed on its walls.
After your tour, you'll enjoy a delightful lunch at one of the good-quality restaurants before transferring to Memphis, now known as Mit Rahina, to see the open-air museum with its amazing artifacts, including the alabaster sphinx of Memphis and the colossal statue of Ramses II, the New Kingdom pharaoh who is the owner of the impressive Abu Simbel Temples in Aswan.
Finally, you'll return to your hotel for the night after a day filled with exciting adventures and delicious meals (breakfast and lunch).
